چکیده

Large-scale, microglass bead, continuous-flow electrophoresis was used to separate and collect protein fractions from a single serum sample. These fractions were assayed for a multiplicity of enzyme activities. Relatively good recovery was obtained with lactic acid dehydrogenase, leucine aminopeptidase, and phosphohexoseisomerase. Artifactually high recoveries were observed with aldotase and isocitric acid dehydrogenase. The increase observed in aldolase activity may be due to a pH effect,

Fractionation Studies of Antibodies detected in Serological Tests for Syphilis: A PRELIMINARY REPORT.

Studies employing treponemal and non-treponemal antigens in serological tests have indicated the existence of a multiplicity of antibodies in syphilis (Portnoy and Magnuson, 1955; Magnuson and Portnoy, 1956; Cannefax and Garson, 1959; McLeod and Garson, 1962; Deacon and Hunter, 1962), and suggest the probability that reagin, TPCF antibody, RPCF antibody and immobilizing antibody are separate an...

Continuous flow separations in microfluidic devices.

Biochemical sample mixtures are commonly separated in batch processes, such as filtration, centrifugation, chromatography or electrophoresis. In recent years, however, many research groups have demonstrated continuous flow separation methods in microfluidic devices. Such separation methods are characterised by continuous injection, real-time monitoring, as well as continuous collection, which m...

Superoxide dismutase in Arabidopsis: an eclectic enzyme family with disparate regulation and protein localization.

A number of environmental stresses can lead to enhanced production of superoxide within plant tissues, and plants are believed to rely on the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) to detoxify this reactive oxygen species. We have identified seven cDNAs and genes for SOD in Arabidopsis. These consist of three CuZnSODs (CSD1, CSD2, and CSD3), three FeSODs (FSD1, FSD2, and FSD3), and one MnSOD (MSD1)....

Electrophoretic fractionation of serum lactic dehydrogenase.

Continuous-flow paper electrophoresis has been used to separate human blood serum and extracts of the formed elements of blood into several frac tions exhibiting lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity (1, 2, 4). Fractionation patterns obtained by this procedure have been shown to differ from normal in certain diseases. The pattern differences were not attributable to the appearance of new fraction...

PURIFICATION AND PROPERTIES OF AN EXTRACELLULAR PROTEASE PRODUCED BY PENICIUIUM EXPANSUM

Penicilliurn expamum grown in a medium with rice husk as a carbon source produced an extracellular protease. The protease enzyme was isolated from culture broth by fractionation with acetone and column chromatography on Sephadex G- 100 and DEAE A-50. The protease enzyme was purified about 17.47 fold, with a recovery of 14%. The purified protease was homogenous on SDS polyacrylarnide disc ge...
